EasyParcel, a Malaysia-based e-commerce shipping platform startup, aims to provide simplified and easily accessible shipping solutions for small-and-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) across the region of Southeast Asia through their intuitive, affordable and highly efficient online booking system. Thus far, the logistics startup claims that approximately five hundred thousand regional businesses and small-to-medium sized enterprises have made use of their delivery and shipping service. The startup currently operates in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia, which together comprise some of the major economies in the region of Southeast Asia. Some of the services that the startup offers include free door to door collection, auto-generated consignment notes, fast online delivery booking, easy online tracking and multiple courier choices for businesses to choose from.
EasyParcel was founded by its chief executive officer, Clarence Leong, and began operations in 2014. According to Clarence, the startup’s mission is to help SMEs and businesses overcome last-mile delivery challenges, and since its establishment the logistics startup has continually gained traction in their four existing markets of Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. Previously, the startup managed to close a successful Series A funding round in 2016 which saw the involvement of several angel investors as well as the Axiata Digital Innovation Fund (ADIF), which is a technology-focused venture fund established by Axiata alongside Johor Corporation and Malaysia Venture Capital Management. More recently, EasyParcel held a Series B funding round around the middle of 2019 that saw it raise close to US$10 million from Gobi Partners, an early stage to late stage venture capital firm with a focus on digital media and information technology investments across Asia, and Teleport, AirAsia’s cargo and logistics platform.
The Series B funding round was a monumental achievement for the startup as it is now able to further extend its reach to even more SMEs and businesses across the region due to the strategic partnership formed with Teleport. By leveraging on the cargo and logistics platform’s vast network infrastructure that spans across more than a hundred cities and unparalleled logistics that counts more than ten thousand AirAsia flights weekly, EasyParcel is able to partner effectively with Teleport and AirAsia to disrupt Southeast Asia’s current logistics and e-commerce ecosystem by making shipping and delivery solutions much more affordable and accessible to small-and-medium sized enterprises across the region. Through the systemic integration of the startup’s end-to-end delivery services with Teleport, EasyParcel is now in a unique position to help SMEs across the region overcome the logistics bottlenecks and streamline their shipping and delivery experiences.
The achievements of EasyParcel have not gone unnoticed. The logistics startup was recently awarded the Best E-commerce and Supply Chain Startup Award at the recently concluded ASEAN Rice Bowl Startup Awards that was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in January this year. The ASEAN Rice Bowl Startup Awards was organized by Malaysia’s New Entrepreneurs Foundation (myNEF) and is meant to celebrate the many achievements and accomplishments of Southeast Asia’s various startups across multiple industries and sectors. The Penang-headquartered startup also won the prestigious Frost & Sullivan’s Malaysia Last Mile Express and Parcel Delivery Company of the Year award in 2019.
