The newly launched program aims to develop the children’s emotional intelligence, as well as social, physical, cognitive, and intellectual skills, which the teachers here greatly value.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to channel emotions and apply them to daily life, using empathy and understanding when communicating with others and solving problems. EYES focus on developing emotional intelligence, helping children understand how their emotions work, and knowing how to manage them to ensure positive growth.
The teachers at EYES strongly believe that social and intellectual skills are best learned in an environment that nurtures self-esteem and demands respect. As such, the kindergarten curriculum includes lessons about building confidence and leadership skills. This connects children to the world around them, makes them aware of their surroundings, and helps them connect to their family, friends, and community.
As well as emotional education, the program also provides children with robust academic education. In preparation for school, children will learn the alphabet, math, language, science, and technology.
EYES weekly classes cater to children up to six years, with classes for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Their summer camps are available to children up to 12, offering activities such as yoga, crafts, dance, drama, cooking, reading, nature walks, and field trips. The centre also offers private tutoring up to grade six, and childcare during the holidays.
Schools are located in various places across Ontario, including Toronto, Scarborough, Vaughan, Brampton, Burlington, Kitchener, Whitby, Oakville, and New Market.
EYES was created by teacher Naila Saeed in 1999, building on her passion for the behavioural patterns and needs of children. With over 20 years of experience, she has taken her teaching philosophy from many schools of thought including Emergent, Elect, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia.
