Berkeley Springs, West Virginia – March 14, 2022 —
Moonbase, the revolutionary new modern campaign experience offering a modern dwelling under the stars, is live on global fundraising platform Indiegogo and a breakout crowdfunding success story having raised more than 150% of their raise goal in less than a week.
City life is busier, louder and more stressful than anytime in history. Crowds, traffic, persistent noise, global pandemics and an “always online” state of mind can wreak havoc on the human mind and body. Moonbase is a modern camping experience under the clear skies of West Virginia, only 2 hours from Washington D.C., designed to help people take a reprieve from the constant pressures of urban living.
“This all started because I wanted to take the girl I was dating on a trip to see the stars. I would tell her stories about my camping/stargazing trips to National Parks, but she was unwilling to rough it with a tent. No showers? No bed? No way. And so I asked myself why is there not a comfortable place you can stay to stargaze? Why does this not exist?” says co-founder and CEO Sani Djaya on the inspiration behind the project. “We wanted to make it easy for you to just grab a friend and come out without needing to lug all this heavy camping gear just to see the stars.”
Moonbase is introducing a modern camping experience to the East Coast. Each unit gives travelers a unique way to experience technology seamlessly integrated within nature. It’s more than a tent, a little less than a spaceship— all designed by Jupe; a team helmed by former SpaceX and Tesla employees. The units have Baltic birch interiors machined to the millimeter, wrapped in the highest-quality weather resistant canvas, and the aluminum masts are milled to perfection. Each unit is fitted with a luxury queen mattress, a warm heated blanket, butcher board end tables and stools, indoor and outdoor LED lighting, bedside USB charging stations and outlets — all of this powered by solar panels.
The location of Moonbase was purposefully chosen a short two to four hour drive from D.C. Baltimore, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. A location clear of light pollution— giving campers a crystal clear nightly view of the Milky Way with easy accessibility to local cities. It is located on the Appalachian Mountains on a generous 15 acres; offering a serene environment to decompress and relax.
“We’ve got the base funds for Moonbase but we want to go above and beyond to make sure that this feels different than a traditional campground. We want our guests to come out to Moonbase and ultimately to feel more connected; whether the person they came out with or just with nature,” adds Djaya.
