10/10/2019 – Singapore headquartered Yours Skinlabs Pte Ltd (Yours) announced a seed funding worth US$3.5M from Sequoia Capital, Global Founders Capital, Kindred Ventures, and an undisclosed celebrity fund.

The beauty tech startup personalized skincare product brand with an emphasis on its consumers is founded in November 2018, by former Uber employees Navneet Kaur and Shivam Sharma.

Buyers go through a unique questionnaire on Yours’ website, where questions such as hours of sleep, age, and smoking habits are posed, followed by uploading a selfie clearly showing the face. Whereafter computer vision algorithms will analyze the image and combine it with the answers from the questionnaire finally putting together a full set of skincare routines from the company’s product line.

Each highly personalized kits are composed of a day cream, night cream, eye serum, and face serum. With prices starting from US$149 per kit.

Yours boast to only use effective, safe, and clean formulations with all products made in Switzerland. The company also claims that all products are animal and environmentally friendly.

The startup also offers subscription-based purchases where clients will receive a set of customized kits every two months, adjusting following the change in environment, lifestyles and skin needs.

“The future of skincare will focus on individuality, efficacy, and inclusivity. New consumers demand new models, and the imminent transformation of this industry will set aside the dated one-size-fits-all business model that produces en-masse; opting for clean and environmentally-friendly options that are, at once, data-driven and catered to individual needs,” said Kaur, co-founder of Yours.

Yours was previously announced to be a part of Sequoia’s second cohort of startups from their accelerator program – Surge. Which also joined the seed funding round.

Surge, started earlier this year by Sequoia India aims to find, help and fund early-stage startups in India and Southeast Asia. Providing a 16-week long program including company-building and cross-border support. An Investor week called UpSurge will also be held in Singapore at the end of the program.
