China strives to build world level platform boost marine economy

From 14 to 17 October Shenzhen play its role as a major platform to discuss the opportunities and the new developments happening in the marine economy domain and to highlight major initiatives to ensure the environmental and economic sustainability of what is fast becoming a major component of the global economy.

The China Marine Economic Expo (CMEE) 2019 will be held in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, as China’s only national-level comprehensive marine expo and international trade fair. CMEE – the Top Ocean Exhibition in China- is THE platform for showcasing the achievements of China’s marine economic development and bringing forward the trends and factors shaping the evolution of the global marine economy.

The International Marine Economy Cooperation and Development Forum, which will be held from Oct 15th-16th at Shenzhen Sheraton Futian Hotel during the EXPO, is one of the highlights of this year’s CMEE.

The International Marine Economy Cooperation and Development Forum is bringing together more than 70 leaders on the marine economy from the business and academic world along with public personalities at the vanguard of the thinking on the prospects for the marine economy. More than 400 business participants closely related to the marine economy will participate in the in-depth discussions on how to promote the sustainable development of the global marine economy, with the growing role of the Greater Bay Area, as well as advising China and Shenzhen to build world-class marine center city.

Advances in sciences and technology have boosted the rapid development of the marine economy as a new growth driver on a global scale. As a global maritime power, China launched its ‘Marine Silk road’, broadening its global trade framework and industrial supply chain network. The proposal to build “a maritime community with a shared future” is highlighting the increasing importance of the blue economy and seeks to support a new global model for sustainable development.

Other major events such as The International Forum of Blue Economy Entrepreneurs, and The Guangdong- Hong Kong-Macao Forum on Marine Cooperation and Development, as well as 8 workshops that exploring the professional topics of the marine economy during the CMEE, will complement the range of activities and opportunities for acquiring new knowledge and creating new business relationships during the period of 14 to 17 in Shenzhen.
