Mr San Sunkaraneni is the website’s administrator. He is a Consultant Rhinologist/ENT Surgeon at Guildford Nuffield Hospital and Mount Alvernia Hospital. Mr Sunkaraneni is a University of London-trained Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Surgeon. He spent a year in medical school pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Anatomy, which sparked his interest in the anatomy and surgery of the head and neck area.
He completed his general otolaryngology training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and at the Wessex Deanery on England’s south coast.
As a result of his accomplishments, he was chosen from a highly competitive worldwide field to spend a year receiving subspecialty training at Vancouver’s famous St Paul’s Sinus Centre.
Mr Sunkaraneni obtained significant expertise in rhinology during this year, focusing on computer aided sinus surgery (CASS) and endoscopic (keyhole) skull base surgery, which included the excision of sinonasal and brain tumours.
Mr Sunkaraneni was given the Royal Society of Medicine’s 2010 Travelling Prize and the British Rhinological Society’s Travelling Fellowship the same year.
Mr Sunkaraneni has been recognised and certified as a specialist by the Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery specialist advisory committee and the General Medical Council.
Mr Sunkaraneni’s research interests include nasal and sinus disorders. He is the Principal Investigator of a nationwide multicentre research initiative examining the causes of sinusitis and developing novel therapies. He has served as a peer reviewer for scientific publications and has spoken at major conferences in the United Kingdom and North America. Additionally, he has been designated as a Senior Visiting Fellow at the University of Surrey.
