Myanmar’s travel booking portal FlyMya to acquire smaller rival Go-Myanmar.com

13 December, 2017 – Myanmar’s travel booking portal FlyMya recently announced that it has acquired its smaller competitor Go-Myanmar.com, a travel website for an undisclosed amount.

“Go-Myanmar.com is one of the best known brands in Myanmar travel, as well as a trusted source of information for hundreds of thousands of people every year planning and booking their trip to Myanmar,” explained the FlyMya’s CEO Mike Than Tun Win.

The travel booking portal was established by Marcus Allender, a British national who spent a month traveling in Myanmar. Since its inception in 2012, it attracts 3,000 visitors per day, offering travel information through blogs, photos, videos, and search engines.

Commenting on the deal, founder of Go-Myanmmar.com Marcus Allender explained, “The synergies are clear because Go-Myanmar.com’s content and online profile combined with FlyMya’s technical capabilities, experienced team, and willingness to invest in an online travel future make for a perfect fit ”

Founded in 2012, Go-Myanmar.com was created with the goal of simplifying the discovery of Myanmar as a travel destination. It also has expert guides at locations around the country to support a better travel experience.

FlyMya.com, on the other hand is Myanmar’s largest platform for domestic air tickets, hotel reservations, and car rentals supplying travellers with itinerary plans and packages.

FlyMya is a subsidiary of BOD Tech and boasts a strong presence in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Its IT operations in Southeast Asia cover industries ranging from retail, travel, food delivery, O2O, publication, cloud communication, SaaS, and fintech.

This is FlyMya’s second acquisition in this year after it has bought SWITCH.CM, an engineering team based in London that design reservation platform.

Other portfolio firms of BOD Tech include e-commerce platform shopmyar.com, food delivery startup Yangondoor2door, and online laundry service Laundry,com.mm.
