Terrence Brisbon, otherwise known as DJ Waffles, collaborated with notable names in the music industry to organize The Padded Tour with the 2022 edition of the musical voyage. The 12 city tour focused on giving independent artists a platform to reach a wider audience, covering the midwest to the top of South Carolina.
“The artists and industry execs perceived the tour as an amazing process. Independent artists were treated like major artists on this tour. They were able to see other cities, go to studios, givebacks with Boys & Girls Clubs and also perform at packed venues. So the experience was a full tour for an indie artist.”
The music industry has evolved over the years, and independent artists have played a significant role in the growth experienced in the market. Unfortunately, indie artists still struggle to get the recognition and accolades they deserve for their efforts. While several initiatives have been put in place by different stakeholders in the industry, more needs to be done to recognize the significance of independent artists in the music scene. Consequently, DJ Waffles had many great executives support the tour, such as Debra Antney, Jameelah Just Jay Wilkerson, and Bo Campbell of the San Francisco 49ers.
The 2022 edition of the Padded tour landed in Brooklyn, NY, York, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Detroit, Virginia, and South Carolina, giving participating acts the needed exposure to grow their career. The goal was to give artists the feel of how a tour works while also enabling them to gain organic fans and reach. It also helped them to experience what team building is about while getting criticism and accolades from fans and other experienced professionals in the industry to set them up for a successful career.
