Unrivaled, a groundbreaking 3×3 women’s basketball league co-founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, has successfully raised $28 million in its latest funding round. The league, which operates as a player-owned organization, offers its athletes equity and a vested interest in its success. This strategic move places Unrivaled at the forefront of women’s professional sports, emphasizing the importance of player empowerment.
The recent funding round, part of a Series A initiative, brings Unrivaled’s total financial backing to an impressive $35 million for 2024. The latest investors include notable figures such as NBA champion Giannis Antetokounmpo and 28-time Olympic medalist Michael Phelps, with the Berman family leading the charge. Previous supporters of the league include soccer superstar Alex Morgan and actor Ashton Kutcher, who have both recognized the potential of this innovative venture.
Unrivaled has already signed 36 top-tier players, establishing itself as a premier destination for female basketball talent. Notably, it boasts the highest average salaries across any women’s professional sports league, reflecting its commitment to fair compensation and athlete support. The league’s inaugural season is set to kick off on January 17.
In addition to its financial successes, Unrivaled has secured an exclusive multiyear media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. This partnership will see its games broadcast on TNT and truTV, as well as available on the streaming platform Max, providing extensive visibility for the league and its athletes.

Under Armour has been named the official uniform partner of Unrivaled, further solidifying its brand presence in the sports industry. The league has also attracted investments from private investor Marc Lasry, renowned University of South Carolina women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley, and USC guard JuJu Watkins, showcasing a broad base of support from various sectors.
