Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) represent an essential part of the patient-care team. In assisting the medical staff, CNAs not only provide physical care for patients but also emotional and spiritual support, truly making a difference in the lives of patients and families.
Nationally, there is a growing population of people who will be in need of care, whether in their own homes or in a community. However, the need for CNAs in all types of facilities and communities has been a concern for years and will continue to be so for decades to come.
When the hard facts are being considered, most CNA students need training that is affordable, flexible, and easily accessible. As such, the Upward Bound Scholarship for Certified Nursing Assistants was created by local healthcare providers and minority women business owners from Jacksonville, Florida in order to provide local students with an opportunity to earn their license as a CNA in the state of Florida in less time when compared to traditional CNA training programs – and without any debt. The scholarship also serves to recognize the significant contribution that caregivers, such as CNAs and HHAs, make in the community.
The 2022 Upward Bound Scholarship for Certified Nursing Assistants will support 1 graduating high school student from each of the following Jacksonville, Florida area high schools: Jean Ribault, William Raines, Edward White, Westside, Englewood, and Sandalwood.
